Alto Seniors Swinging into the Short Course Season

The Alto Swim Club Senior and National groups recently escaped to the beautiful Monte Toyon Retreat Center in Aptos, California for their annual team retreat.

Beyond the breathtaking redwood scenery, the swimmers tested their communication, collaboration, and quick thinking through various games and challenges. Teams were made, alliances were forged, and the competition was fierce!

Speed Dating

This unique twist on team bonding gave each swimmer just 60 seconds to connect with every other teammate.  Fast-paced and full of laughs, it was an excellent icebreaker for the weekend and a great way to learn new things about other teammates!

Charades

Hilarity ensued as teammates attempted to act out everything from Olympic events to famous movie titles (with varying degrees of success).

Trivia Night

The competitive spirit was alive and well during trivia night, as teams battled it out to answer questions ranging from pop culture to swim history.

Mock Debate

Things got heated (in a good way!) during the mock debate, where swimmers were assigned opposing sides to topics and had to argue their case with wit and persuasion.

Ropes Course

The swimmers navigated a challenging ropes course, relying on teamwork and ground communication from their teammates to conquer their fears and reach the top!

SOFA

No Alto retreat would be complete without a rousing game of SOFA, a beloved team tradition that involves strategy, teamwork, agility, and alliance negotiation!

In addition to the games and the challenges, swimmers engaged in meaningful discussions about team goals, how to be supportive teammates, and what it means to be a leader. These conversations and the fun activities strengthened their bond and prepared them for a successful season!
