Level Descriptions: Swimming Lessons
Private Swim Lessons
Our private swimming lessons are for swimmers at every age and level. Each session is tailored to the need of the student. Our Alto Swim School Instructors are trained and qualified to teach every level of swimmer, from beginning toddlers swim lessons to advanced private swim lessons for competitive swimmers.

Group Swim Lessons
Our group swimming lessons have five different levels. Please read below about the different levels descriptions and entry skill requirements.
Level 1: Little to No Experience
Age: 2-3 years old
Ratio: 3:1
Entrance Skills Needed: Comfortable attending class without a parent
Description: Little to no experience needed. The class focuses on comfort, safety and fun! In the class swimmers will learn how to bob underwater, float with assistance, wall crawl, blow bubbles, enter and exit the pool safely.
Level 2: Water Comfortable
Age: 3+ years old
Ratio: 4:1
Entrance Skills Needed: Bubbles, face underwater, climb out of the pool unassisted.
Description: Swimmers at this level are comfortable in the water. This is a skill development class for beginners. Swimmers will learn how to float on their front and back unassisted, glide, kick, jump off and return to the wall.
Level 3: Kicking & Floating
Age: 3+ years old
Ratio: 4:1
Entrance Skills Needed: Floating and kicking (front and back), jump off and return to the wall.
Description: Swimmers at this level are intermediate in skill development and are preparing their skills for freestyle and backstroke foundations. Swimmers in this class will learn how to swim 10+ft of both freestyle and backstroke.
Level 4: Foundations of Freestyle & Backstroke
Age: 4+ years old
Ratio: 5:1
Entrance Skills Needed: 10+ft freestyle and backstroke swim
Description: Swimmers at this level are developing their freestyle technique and side breathing, as well as backstroke technique. Swimmers in this class will learn how to swim 25 yards (1 length of the pool) freestyle and backstroke, side breathing and streamline push offs.
Level 5: Foundations of Butterfly & Breaststroke
Age: 4+ years old
Ratio: 4:1
Entrance Skills Needed: 25 yard Freestyle and Backstroke
Description: Swimmers at this level will be introduced to the foundations of butterfly and breaststroke, as well as skill development in all four competitive strokes. Swimmers in this class will learn how to swim 25 yards of each competitive stroke: Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle.
