Oct 2025: Age Group Swimmer of the Month: Anna Afonova

Anna began her swimming in Alto’s SwimFit Group and has grown into a true force on the team. She has trained with Coach Richie for most of her time at Alto, developing into a hardworking and dedicated athlete.

This summer, Anna achieved her first Sectional qualifying time in the 50-meter freestyle at age 12! Anna was a finalist at both Summer Age Group Championships and Far Western Championships. At our first CBA+ Meet of the Short Course season, she broke the team record in the 50-yard freestyle with an incredible 24.99!

Anna brings a bright, positive energy to every practice and is a wonderful teammate. She consistently pushes herself to improve and attends over 90% of practices. We’re impressed not only by Anna’s hard work in the water, but also by her positive energy on deck; she always greets the coaches and her teammates with a cheerful hello and goodbye.
