Stanford Swimming and PASA-Cardinal Site partner to form Alto Swim Club

STANFORD, CA [September 2018] - Stanford Women’s Swimming and Diving Head Coach Greg Meehan recently announced the formation of Alto Swim Club, a new team partnership formed by Meehan and Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics Cardinal Site Head Coaches Laura Mitchell and Joey Sementelli.

“Alto Swim Club demonstrates a strong relationship between Stanford Swimming and the local swimming community,” Meehan said. “This new partnership represents a shared vision that has developed over several years and works to further pursue a longstanding tradition of excellence in the Bay Area.”

The collegiate and post-graduate groups are coached by Stanford Head Coaches Greg Meehan and Ted Knapp as well as Associate Head Women’s Coach Tracy Slusser and Assistant Men’s Coach Jeff Kostoff.

The 18 & under side of Alto is run by Head Coaches Joey Sementelli and Laura Mitchell. Sementelli leads the National Group and Mitchell leads the Senior program. They are involved in all aspects of the team and are assisted by Kati McDermott, Daiane Oliveira, Josh Rines, Alec Scott, and Kelsey Theriault.

“Alto Swim Club aspires to provide the best combination of developmental and high performance swimming in the country,” Sementelli said. “We are very excited for the opportunity to partner with Stanford Swimming. It’s an exciting time for our team!”

Stanford Swimming and Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics (Cardinal Site) merged in the fall of 2018 to create Alto Swim Club. Alto trains at the Avery Aquatic Center on the Stanford University campus, and at multiple other facilities in the Palo Alto area.
