Alto Senior Swimmer of the Month: Jan 2025: Lina Bahbah
Lina Bahbah joined Alto almost 6 years ago and started in our fitness group, SwimFit. With a lot of hard-work, positive attitude and perseverance, Lina is now swimming in Senior 1 with Head Coach Laura.
In January, Lina started the new year strong as an outstanding Big Buddy at Zone Championships while also achieving new personal bests in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM. Her positive attitude is infectious, and she is a fantastic teammate. With an impressive 95% practice attendance, Lina consistently shows up ready to work hard and improve.
Congratulations, Lina! Your dedication and effort are truly appreciated. The hard work you put in each day, both in and out of the pool, is inspiring to your teammates and coaches. We are excited to see you continue to grow, push your limits, and achieve even greater success in the years ahead!.
Most inspiring teammate story from Alto: How Chloe, Elliot and I met each other in Age Group 3 and we worked our way up to Senior 1 and are still best friends and we have also grown our friend group with other people like Mina, Ellen, Hafsa, Mia, Kate and so many other swimmers I’ve met through Alto.
Best Part of Swimming with Alto: The best part of swimming for Alto is that you have the opportunity to build a community with your team and you really get to know everyone you swim with after seeing them almost everyday.
Funniest moment during an Alto practice: When Coach Richie jumped into the pool after the morning session of a Rock the Blocks meet because it’s really unusual to see coaches swimming and us standing outside when it’s usually the opposite.
Go-to motivational quote: “Fake it til you make it" because it’s better to try and motivate yourself that you can do it rather than saying you know you can’t do it because it’s better to have a positive attitude than a negative one.
Pre-Race Routine: Eat food and drink electrolyte water 20 minutes before my race and do dynamic warmup for 5 minutes before my race and eat honey.
Favorite Books: Powerless by Lauren Roberts because it has a good plot and I love the characters.
Travel Bucket List: Japan, Florida, Korea and the Caribbean because they’re places I’ve seen a lot about and there are a lot of activities I’d like to do there.
Dream Job: Lawyer; I’m good at arguing and convincing people :)
