Alto Head Coach Joey Sementelli Selected to Coach at USA Swimming National Boys Select Camp

We’re thrilled to share that Alto Head Coach Joey Sementelli was selected to coach at the USA Swimming National Boys Select Camp! Held January 9-12 at United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, this incredible event brought together many of the nation’s top 15-17-year-old swimmers for a transformative experience.

The National Select Camp is designed to inspire and educate the best young athletes in the country, offering them a taste of what it’s like to live and train as a National Team athlete. Swimmers were selected based on outstanding performances in the USA Swimming SWIMS database, with the fastest times in Olympic events earning a spot. A total of 52 athletes participated in this three-day camp.

The camp’s curriculum included:

  • In-water workouts: Five sessions focused on refining skills and strategies.

  • Classroom sessions: Topics covered included post-race recovery, psychological training skills, race strategy, nutrition, and the latest updates on drug and supplement regulations.

The camp’s focus was not on heavy training but on motivation, skill-building, and education to help these athletes reach their full potential. Athletes lived and trained on-site at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, immersing themselves in the daily routine of elite swimmers.

Joey’s selection as a coach for this prestigious event highlights his expertise and leadership in the swimming community. Congratulations to Coach Joey, and to all the athletes and coaches who participated in this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
